In this video of Chimmamanda Adichie, we can see that she was an african woman, that talks about the danger o a single story, vision, idea. This is what the english books said, so she found that the african books change her life. The people think they know about something with only one story. An example of this could be the situation of Africa, in which the peolple say that there is poverty, a lot of ilnesses, etc., but actually not in all the country there are these situations. Some US people told her that Africa is a great place, have great animals, the people that live there fight a lot and is bad, ands that is unable to speak for themselves because they have no head. All this is the US speculation, ideas of the country. The one that has the power, is the one that write the story. So what Chimmamanda wants us to know is that the people don´t have to believe the first story they heard.
In my opinion, Chimmamanda is right because the majority of the people that express their opinion about something that they know little (a single story), are wrong. So that before we say something about a topic we don't know much, we have to learn more stories, visions.
